Homemade No-Peel Crockpot Apple Butter

  • 6 lbs apples (I used 18 medium organic Gala)
  • 3/4 c.  Sucanat (Sugar Cane Natural)
  • 1Tbsp. cinnamon
  • 3/4 tsp.  cloves

Grease crockpot. Wash apples because you will be leaving the skins on. Slice apples. I used my apple corer, slicer and it goes very quickly. (I cut the slices in half this time to speed up cooking time. This step is optional just allow extra time to cook.)Throw apples, sugar and spices in the crockpot for 2 hours on high. Stir and turn down to low and cook for additional 8 hours.  Remove lid and mash down the apples with a potato masher. Remove lid and continue to cook for 2 hours or more until you get the desired consistency. Place mixture into blender. I use my Vitamix and it works great! Place into sterilized glass canning jars ( I prefer the half pint size) and place in fridge or freeze. They also work great for a Christmas gift.
